Do you prefer taking risks or having a safety net?
I prefer having a safety net! Although if I look back over the years, a lot of risks I've taken had zero safety net. I've played my choices like they're all do or die and very much on impulse...which makes me wonder why I haven't chosen safety net before. Like, going to Japan--that was a very all-or-nothing choice for me, and I had no backup plan if I failed. I saw no other options. Studying abroad in Wales was very similar--I knew I wanted to go, but didn't really think about finances enough or the practicality of it, so I had to rely on my mother a lot for help while I was over there when suddenly I had no cash. I can think of a ton of other instances where I made choices without thinking of the consequences or having a safety net prepared. But I'm older now and it seems like it's too late in life for me to gamble on things so heavily without a plan B.
