This post is so overdue. But I'm glad you're here to read it! I went to Matsuricon on impulse with two of my friends I made in Japan who live stateside now. So it was a JET reunion but also a chance to geek out again. It was a pleasant surprise to be so suddenly invited, and it felt great to go to a convention since I missed Animate due to COVID.
While I bought a badge for all three days (August 30-September 1) I only attended Friday and Saturday...I was just too pooped on Sunday and I knew I had to come home and get to grading. We were all mellow about the convention anyway and went with the flow, which was nice.
I told my friends that my primary goal at conventions is to get autographs from voice actors, and if that I disappeared a while, it's because I was doing that. They were really understanding and let me run off for a while. I got all my autographs on Friday!
Jamieson Price - he autographed my Gankutsuou DVD art and I showed him my cosplay
Tony Oliver - bought a copy of his character Lancer from Fate/Stay Night for him to sign
Caitlin Glass - brought my FMA Brotherhood DVD art for her to sign
Brandon McInnis - brought my Given DVD art for him to sign but also bought a signed print
J. Michael Tatum - brought my FMA Brotherhood DVD art for him to sign but also bought a signed print
Jordan Dash Cruz - bought a signed print of him as Qi Rong from Heaven Official's Blessing (he also did his voice for me, yay!)
I think that's everyone...
Here's my autograph haul:

I also did a little jaunt to Artist Alley and got three prints from the same artist, Einsu. Two of them are Jujutsu Kaisen characters and one is an OC, but I forgot his name. Isn't this art gorgeous!

I actually remembered to take cosplay photos this time. I took a lot -- lots of Jujutsu Kaisen for example -- but for the sake of this blog I'm narrowing it down to photos I didn't accidentally blur (there were a lot) and some of the more elaborate cosplays I saw.

I didn't cosplay because I didn't have the time to throw something together and none of my previous cosplays fit me any more. But my friend Melissa cosplayed two days in a row (I took her picture the first day but it came out really blurry, so I'm not posting it here). Like I said, I have a lot more pictures and it really was a pleasure to see so many great costumes at the convention.
I'm so glad I got to go, and more importantly, go with friends I hadn't seen since living in Japan. This was a memorable convention and one I highly recommend you give a try.
Thanks for reading!
