Getting in the Mood

It's time to batten down the hatches and really get into the mood to write The Name and the Key. I've written a decent chunk of it so far, but I kept running into snags and let it sit for a loooong time. So, to help me get inspired to pick it back up and plow through it, I'm doing all of the artsy-fartsy things you can do for a WIP, and I'll be sharing them with you!
First up: mood boards!

I'm reviewing these images and I think it makes my story look creepy. And parts of it definitely are--the trilogy deals with death and ghosts and demons. But there's also a loving family and a sweet, enduring romance that goes with it. And fire magic, and alchemy!
This is a darker story--much darker than Son of the Siren, I think--but I hesitate to refer to it as a dark romantasy because it doesn't hit all the marks of the genre. And aside from the subject of death and its depictions, I don't think I'll need content warnings for this one--Son of the Siren was far more taboo and this story feels safer despite some grim subject matter.
I hope you find these images enticing. They certainly inspire me!
