Well...
I sort of went overboard joining everything online. Part of it was to snatch up my name before anyone else could get to it on social media, but a larger part was the amount of pressure to join where everyone seems to be going, and to use those social media channels to promote my work.
You can find me on nearly everything now. Have I consistently posted on these sites? Heck no. Sometimes I forget that I even have profiles.
Nonetheless, I'd like to share them with you in case you want to follow me:
Author Newsletter
This is kind of a weird thing. On my website my newsletter popup appears at the bottom of the screen. If you go directly to the colossal-artisan website, there will be a solid white screen and then the newsletter signup popup at the bottom of the screen again. Please don't be alarmed by the white screen! Just sign up at the bottom.
I email a newsletter once a month that recaps blog articles, SON OF THE SIREN news, what I'm reading, watching, writing, and doing. It's a lot of fun to write which I hope translates to fun reading. Once in a blue moon I'll send a newsletter outside of the monthly schedule if I'm doing special announcements (cover reveals, presales, etc.).
BlueSky
I'm really bad about remembering this site exists. I have maybe two posts, and four friends? I'll try to work harder. But if you are here, please friend me!
BookBub
This site is really important to authors, especially when it comes to promotions and sharing book deals. In order for BookBub to do promotion for you, you need at least 1,000 followers. I haven't even broken 100 yet. So if you feel like following me here, that would be a really big help! I not only feature my book there, but you can see what I've been reading and what I recommend. You can also follow authors to see when their books go on sale.
My Facebook is private, so only friends can see all of my posts, but my writerly posts and other posts are made public, so if you want to follow me, you can see them.
I've really ramped up my Instagram usage. This is largely because I participated in Bookstagram tours, but also I wanted to make pretty things for Son of the Siren. When I first started Instagram, I used it to post my favorite photos from Japan, so if you want to see those treasures, just scroll down.
I've had Pinterest for years and use it to make mood boards for my books. I had more boards in the past, but with me rewriting so much of my old stuff, I deleted them. The only board right now is Son of the Siren, but it's very pretty.
Threads
Out of all the Twitter/X competitors out there, I like this one the best. While I don't share stuff as often as I should, I do read a lot, and there are many authors who made their home on Threads.
TikTok
I caved and made one! And its future is entirely uncertain! I thought I should start making TikTok videos when I started getting more comfortable making Instagram reels. However, I only have three videos on my profile and I need to come up with more. Plus, I have no idea how to use this site. If you feel like following me, that would be great!
Tumblr
While this is a relic of ages, past, I still keep my account active. I don't post on there very much, but I primarily use it to share art that I think is beautiful.
X (Formerly Twitter)
I have debated leaving this site many times and my usage is decreasing, but I still use it to follow artists and get updates on BL I want to read. For those reasons (especially the BL) I'm holding on to this site by a thread.
That's It!
If there are any more social media sites sprouting up, I think I'm going to go insane. Such is the life of someone who Google now classifies as a public figure. I've got a platform I need to build and a way to connect to readers...I just need to work it out somehow!
