My Life in Books Tag

a black and white framed image of piles of hardcover books in multiple colors - My life in books tag

I found this tag over at Whispering Stories and it looked like a lot of fun to do. Plus, I need a little breather in between posts as I figure out what to write next on the blog. Tags are the perfect in-betweener posts, I think! Anyway, I hope you enjoy this.

1) Find a book for all your initials.

K - Kill the Farm Boy by Delilah Dawson and Kevin Hearne

R - Red Rising by Pierce Brown

I - Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer

S - Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

T - Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica

I - I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou

N - No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy

A - A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

2) Count your age along with your bookshelf. Which book is it?

The cover to Nicola Griffith's Spear features a vauildron with the image of a white forest coming out of it, a knight in red, and a white castle in the background

I used my upstairs bookshelf for this one instead of the plethora of books I keep downstairs. #40 - Spear by Nicola Griffith.

3) Pick a book set in your city/country.

The cover to the farm by Louis Bromfield features a white farmhouse on a grassy hill

The Farm by Louis Bromfield. He's a darling of my hometown.

4) Pick a book that represents a destination you'd love to travel to.

The Cover to Dylan Thomas Collected Poems is white with black birds or insects caught in flight

I would like to go back to Wales someday so I'm picking The Collected Poems of Dylan Thomas.

5) Pick a book that has your favorite color on it.

The cover to Song of Silver, Flame Like Night features a dragon with a black and red head and a body of green, lilac, and blue scales

There's kind of a greenish blue on the cover of Song of Silver, Flame Like Night by Amélie Wen Zhao that's really pretty. Actually, overall that cover is gorgeous.

6) Which book do you have the fondest memories of?

The cover to Bad News Ballet #7 The King and Us features three dancers in red clothes dancing in front of a Yul Brenner-like man

Probably Bad News Ballet - The King and Us. I remember cracking up during reading it and it made ballet so much fun for me as I was really seriously into dancing at the time growing up.

7) Which book did you have the most difficulty reading?

There were some assigned books during graduate school that I couldn't get into. Of all of them, one was a highly loved sci fi book full of pop culture nuggets that made me feel like I wasn't "in on the joke" that was obsessed with the 80s and nerd culture and I didn't like the lead and hated how it was written. I DNFd it.

8) Which book in your TBR pile will give you the biggest accomplishment when you finish it?

The cover to Heaven Official's Blessing featuring two beautiful men in red walking together holding hands under a red umbrella in the rain

Because there isn't a cover to the final book in the series yet, I'm using the first cover to Heaven Official's Blessing. As I write this I've blitzed through the fourth book and am starting the fifth soon. Book 7 is scheduled to come out in September (the cover has been revealed at last) and then Book 8 is the final volume of the series. So...the big book that will make me feel a great accomplishment is Book 8 of Heaven Official's Blessing. I got wind of this series through the animation (read my review here) and then I dove into the books and the manhua as well. I can't get enough of Xie Lian and Hua Cheng!
