This tag was created by YouTuber Jan Agaton but I accessed it via Books with Bunny It's all about looking back, forward, and at the beginning of the new year in books!

What was the last (& first, if you remember) book you read last year?

I had to use my Goodreads to look this up. On January 1, 2024, I read My Lesbian Experience with Loneliness by Kabi Nagata. On December 25, the last night of reading I did in 2024, my final book was Love's In Sight Volume 8 by Uoyama.

What is your first read this year?

The Reformatory by Tananarive Due. It's also my first 5-star book of the year.

Share 3 of your reading goals this year.

I want to read 2 nonfiction books, 2 middle grade books, and 2 romance novels. I'm trying to diversify my genres a little bit.

Share 3 of your most anticipated titles.

  • The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig

  • The River Has Roots by Amal El-Mohtar

  • Hemlock & Silver by T. Kingfisher

Which goals did you reach/not reach last year?

I met my numerical goal for reading--in fact I smashed it, reading 258 books--but I still never got around to reading the ten YA novels I wanted to get into.

Are there 2025 releases you’ve heard of that you have no desire to read?

Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros.

What are some reading habits you want to change this year, if any?

I wouldn't mind making more of a habit of reading...like reading every night before bed or something like that.

Are there any adaptations you’re excited about?

Netflix has an adaptation of Mokumokuren's The Summer Hikaru Died coming out. I have all the available copies of the manga on Kindle right now--but I can't wait to see this as an anime.

Favorite bookish memory of last year?

I don't remember anything specifically, just that there was a lot of BL that I liked in 2024, I think I gave more 5 stars to BL in 2024 than I did in 2023.

Carryovers from last year that you still plan on finishing?

There were a couple YA novels that I downloaded to my Kindle to my read but never started. They're there waiting for me....
