The Sunshine Blogger Tag

I found this tag on R's Loft website and thought I'd answer the questions they were asked. At the end of the tag you're supposed to come up with new questions of your own to ask other bloggers to participate, so I'll be doing that! You're also supposed to tag 11 people, but I'm not doing that. Anyway, read on and enjoy!

#1 - Did anything 'spark' your passion (writing, reading, art, etc.) or did it come on gradually?

I can't remember the first thing I wrote that made me want to be a writer, but I can tell you that Juliet Marillier's Daughter of the Forest made me want to write fiction. For most of my life I was a playwright and composer, and I didn't start writing a novel until 2010. That's a much later start in life than I expected from myself, but better late than never!

#2 - If a library was on fire and you could only save three of its books, which three would you choose?

  • Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

  • The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

  • The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by N.K. Jemisin

#3 - Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or another drink?

Out of all three, I'd choose hot chocolate, but my go-to drinks now are Vitamin Water and Snapple Kiwi Strawberry.

#4 - One of your characters can come alive for a day. Who do you want it to be?

Crap, this is hard! I'd say Lirien because I'd want to hear him sing, but I also want Andresh to come to life because he's just so friggin' charming!

#5 - How many siblings do you have?

I have one older sister and one twin brother.

#6 - Do you have a motto? (If you do, share it, if you don't, make one up!)

I'm going to borrow the one from my alma mater, "Hazard Yet Forward." I like the sound of that. Keep going through the tough times!

#7 - What's the strangest dream you've ever had?

I've had a lot of nightmares in my life that are quite strange and rated R, so I can't list them here. But the worst one involved gargoyles coming to life in a mansion where the grass outside slashed my feet bloody when I walked on it. It was a weird and horrific dream. Lots of other bad things happened but that's all I can tell you!

#8 - Have you ever traveled out of your country, and if yes, where to?

I've been to England, Ireland, France, Wales, Canada, and Japan. I was lucky enough to live in both Wales and Japan.

#9 - If you wished on a shooting star, what would you wish for?

For Son of the Siren to be published.

#10 - Would you rather go swimming in Antarctica or camping in the Sahara Desert?

I would rather go swimming in Antarctica only if there was an indoor heated pool. I can stand the cold much more than I can stand the heat.

#11 - How did you come up with your blog's name?

Well, this blog is actually my official author website, and I was told ages ago that you need to snatch your name up right away, so that's why my blog is named after me. There are other Kristina Butkes out there in the world, which is why I always use my middle name for my author name.

My questions for you:

  1. Peanut Butter and Jelly or Grilled Cheese?

  2. Where would you like to travel someday?

  3. If you could have a superhero power, what would it be?

  4. Would you rather roller skate everywhere or skateboard everywhere?

  5. What is one of your short-term goals?

  6. What is one of your long-term goals?

  7. What kind of music do you listen to?

  8. Mountains or the sea?

  9. Tell me one of your guilty pleasures.

  10. What's the most recent book you've read?

  11. What is one problem in the world you'd like to fix?

You can answer my questions below in the comments or answer them on your own blog. Have fun with it, and thank you for reading!
